Incentivise your team

You need to educate and motivate your team into wanting to improve their service and sales.

Unsurprisingly, we have found most team members are motivated by financial incentives. Of course, there are other techniques – gamification and prizes – but money always works well.

The information we laid out at the start of the book shows how an increase of £5 per head will benefit your business, but it’s also easy to show your staff how it will benefit them through increased tips and service charge.

Measure and track results

What gets measured gets done, so you need to monitor all your server’s sales. An easy way is through the spend per head but like all sales territories, some sections in the restaurant may offer better opportunities to sell than others, so you may need to make allowances for this.
